Wrong Priorities…

well i seriously just got a spiritual/mental smack in the face….. i was raving to my friend about a song by Third Eye Bind (jumper) that i used to really love and it’s a great song, but i try my hardest to not listen to secular music anymore b/c i feel it hinders my relationship w/ God. anyway, i’ve been slipping up lately in that area and i think i needed this face-smack…..

sorry i totally got off topic… so i was raving to my friend about this song and i was going absolutely craazy b/c she’s never heard of Third Eye Blind or Green Day….. both which opened major doors for me in my music world before i stopped listening to them.  but i was going crazy and i had just told her that she “needed to look up a song right now b/c  it will change your life!” ……… how long has it been that i’ve been that excited, invigorated, and animated to tell someone about Jesus Christ, who literally will change his or her life?? I gotta say that this made me realize that my priorities have been seriously screwed up as of late…. so i intend to change that.

Hey i have no idea who is reading this blog. i have no idea if you’ve read it before. i have no idea if you know me (and if you do, if i’ve been a good example). i have no idea if you know that i truly believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven and the only way to God, but i do…. the question is, do you??

look, it’s really very simple:

God made man, man messed up, God still loved man even thought we sinned, so God made a way for us to be with Him FOREVER!!

The Holy Bible says in John 3:16-17, “For God so LOVED the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him (that’s Jesus) will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”  (NIV, emphasis mine)

Again the Bible talks about how God provided a way to salvation to us!! This is in the book of Romans, Ch.6 and verse 23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE GIFT of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord!” (NASB, emphasis mine)

And just as simply as this, God tells us how to be saved in Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!”

And again in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Look, it’s that simple… it’s like a guarantee from God. RIGHT THERE! IN PRINT!!

It’s been a while…..

So basically i need to stop writing these so late at night b/c I don’t even think that they are funny when i write them now. SSSSSSSNNNNNNNOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! haha i would love to hear Arnold Schwarzenegger say that!! rofl!  so i think i’ll have 16 posts out of 18 weeks right? do i still get extra credit mrs. rivers?? or maybe i will because i’m doing this on a macbook………. as the great Stewie would say……….VICTORY IS MINE!

BF!!!!!

Upon reading my title, most of you either thought i turned gay (which i assure you IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL!!) or i have a new best friend, the latter being equally false. BF=blogfail….. Mrs. Rivers pointed out to me that I haven’t written in my blog for a while and I aim to remedy this!

Today went pretty well.  I was able to support my friends’ band at a show they had in Independence, VA….. the bad part is, it made me so depressed b/c we can’t play shows until my band has a frontman, which probably isn’t going to happen in Ashe county. Make that definitely. I’m pretty sure if there was a musician in this county that could sing metal and wasn’t in a band, I would know him and have jammed w/ him before. Alas, it is not so.

On the bright side, i had a very refreshing talk with my friend that is the bass player for the band i supported tonight. He drove me to and from the show and we had time to have a good chat!

For the first time, my intellectual/philosophical bounds have been stretched as far as what i thought was their end, only to see that there is more! I know why i believe what i believe about God but never have i had to back it up w/ english (which is not good enough for these deep matters) without using the Bible.  Does “fail” also = using the Bible to prove to someone that the Bible is true? (comment on this if you want)….. I think that is too loaded of a question. Maybe connecting facts in the Bible to facts recorded in other sources, thus building trust in the scriptures which would lead to complete acceptance of what is said in the Bible, and thus to a life lead by Christ? Deep stuff. I need to be more prepared for anything that might happen in the future concerning the same thing.

Yea… so I know i’m gonna miss ‘em…

“Em” being Megan Lyle and Courtney Roten.  We are sitting at a table in the library and i’m just thinking about how it’s great to have time to hang with friends and release the stresses of the outside world… Megan’s leaving after first semester, so i definitely won’t have any classes w/ her after this 6 weeks, and i don’t think that i will have any classes in common with Courtney either. But anyway…. i haven’t been able to focus on doing the stuff i need to do because i’m just having too much fun laughing with them. so yea…. i’m gonna miss ‘em. Courtney’s left to go change for the football game and Megan is back in her book reading world so the laughter is probably over for today, but this feeling of contentment will last for a while… life’s coming at me preetttyyy fast. hmmm…..

tired. not like “i’d rather be watching t.v. because i don’t want to do any work today” tired…….. “i seriously wonder if i can get up from this chair (and even if i do will my legs crumble into dust [ and likewise my body after i hit the ground]?)” tired. lucky my neck chose to support itself in the position/angle i’m sitting in or it would have broken off and i probably would not be typing this right now. hungry. had a banana-nut muffin. eh. no quesadillas at lunch today.

football game. not looking forward to it. 1/4 bass drummers might not show. with result of sub-standard performance. not acceptable.  i hope he comes. a little sickness is no reason to break from a commitment like this where other people are depending on you. what has become of perseverance and drive these days?

OH TO BE SCHOLARLY!!

so i’m currently “working on a scholarship application” for a music scholarship sponsored by the NC carrousel parade. (which really means that i came down here to get a piece of info off of the computer and my ADHD went flippin’ INSANE!!!) but anyway.. i came on wordpress to check my site visits and to check if i had comments (of which, i have neither)…. it seems nobody cares……… haha just kidding i’m sure they do. *sniffle* but if u read this mrs. rivers i’m sry; idk if it’s been longer than a week since i wrote in this thing…. or can there be 13 days in between posting and have it still count as twice in two weeks?? i also sincerely apologize for my stark misuse and/or “non-use” (<-word??)  of grammar and/ or punctuation. if you are always as tired as you said you were that one day, then this will not be nearly as fun for you to read as it is for me to write it and read it. why don’t they spell “read” as in “reading” (present tense) like “wread” and “read” as in “i read an interesting article the other day” (past tense) like “read” (wow i guess no change there)?? it would make everything simpler and it would sound the same (yippee homonyms) lol. =D i really must finish my scholarship so i can mail it tomorrow! bye cruel world!!

Someone I don’t know read my blog and liked it!!! Well hats off to you good sir! i will keep on a-writin’……… that is until i finish uploading a bunch of “ye olde compact disks” on to my flash drive so i can then transfer them to my MacBook i recently aquired. (o.O) did i write about the laptop?!?!?!!? I MUST HAVE!! IT’S BEEN MY LIFE FOR LIKE THE PAST TWO WEEKS!!! oh well…. if i didn’t write about it before, i’ll write about it now…. on the flip-side, if i did write about said laptop previously, i’ll do it again and i guess you can deal… ( Side note: if i wrote about it before and you feel like your eyes will be absolutely violated by reading the same info [though possibly worded differently], i will put the info about the Mac in BOLD starting………NOWWW!!!!!!!!!!). So anyone that is looking for a computer and doesn’t wanna have to waste time and a lot of extra money upgrading and buying extra programs after initial purchase, i highly encourage to buy a MacBook. Verily, verily i say unto you that they are a little more expensive, but make up for it with performance and workability (??word??).  I really haven’t found anything it can’t do yet and i don’t think i will…. i got very high quality dvd ripper off the internet for free (and didn’t have to worry about getting a virus! *exclamations of joy*) so now i’m going to put a whole bunch of instructional drum DVDs on my ipod… the software is called handbrake if yunz wants to bez lookinz itz up. …. i could rave for hours on my not-PC, but i will get on to my usual random self for all those others reading who hate technology….(definition of irony: one who hates technology reading a blog?)…….  I’m pretty pumped about hearing the opinions about my session drumming from a guy i’m recording for who lives in south FLA… (ok so i think that sentence really doesn’t make sense… i meant to say that i recorded drums for a guy in south FLA and i’m interested to see what he thinks of my abilities… wow much easier the second time! lol). he is also entering the song in the international songwriting contest. I really hope we win because our family could really use the money. but anyway that’s enough about that! I think i’ve written enough tonight perhaps?? and besides, my CDs are done ripping so i will say au revior! << That’s for you mrs. lemly if u ever read this!
